Name: Yasmine Hassan

Where did you spend your summer? Cambridge, MA

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

The Last Shadow Puppets (w/ Cam Avery), Downtown Boys (w/ Shopping, Gauche, & Ursula)

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

Hands down, the Downtown Boys show at the Middle East. They're actually a Providence band that I found last fall through writing for B-SIDE, so I had seen them once before, but it was the first time I had been to that venue, and also the first show I've attended by myself.

Though I'm into a lot of different stuff, the energy at punk shows never disappoints; for me, Shopping and Downtown Boys were definitely the highlight acts. During Downtown Boys' last song, Victoria pulled up a bunch of folks onstage--and despite being sort of a shy person, I was among them. Dancing onstage at a punk show with tons of other queer, Black, and brown people is a really amazing feeling, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

Song of your summer?

It's a tie between "No soy una de esas" by Jesse & Joy, "All the Way Up" by Fat Joe & Remy Ma, and the Tame Impala remix of "waves" by Miguel

Name: Drew Wendel

Where did you spend your summer? Lincoln, Vermont

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros with Wild Belle

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

Sadly I only got to go to one concert this summer but luckily it was with an amazing live band – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are by far one of the best live bands I've seen yet.

Song of your summer? "Sunset Lover" - Petit Biscuit

Name: Zelda Blowers

Where did you spend your summer? Europe and Florida

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

Field Day in Victoria Park, UK

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

Field Day was incredible except it was ridiculously muddy; Mura Masa and James Blake were some of the best performances we caught and they really brought the London sound.

Song of your summer?

Bahamas -- All The Time

Name: Keri Brooks

Where did you spend your summer? Providence -- Wash. DC -- Puerto Rico

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

Beyonce Lemonade Tour -- SoFar Sounds, Providence

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

How could I not say 'Beyonce'? If I didn't I think my mother would find me and make me think about what I've done wrong. So I'm not going to make that mistake... Beyonce! The show was actually incredible - best concert that I've ever been to. The visual and artistic content put into the performance had me on all types of emotional levels. It was a beautiful experience.

Song of your summer? "Forever" by Noname (ft. Ravyn Lenae & Joseph Chilliams)

Name: Michael O'Neill

Where did you spend your summer? Boston

What shows or music events did you attend this summer? Boston Calling, Brand New & Modest Mouse, Belly, Hop Along & Speedy Ortiz, DIIV

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

Seeing Sufjan Stevens run around the Boston Calling stage covered, among other things, in a silver space-suit, angel wings, and rainbow balloons was truly unforgettable

Song of your summer? Angel Olsen - "Shut Up Kiss Me"

Name: Tia Forsman

Where did you spend your summer? Providence and Delaware

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

Firefly Music Festival in Delaware and Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Fete in Providence

What was your favorite event of the summer and why?

Seeing Tame Impala at Firefly was unforgettable. It was one of my favorite bigger shows I've been to. But Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Fete here in Providence was great because of how small and intimate it was.

Song of your summer? Cool Blue by The Japanese House

Name: Katherine Chavez

Where did you spend your summer? Los Angeles, CA

What shows or music events did you attend this summer?

Nas, Anderson .Paak, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tokimonsta, HARD Summer, SoFar Sounds Hollywood, Local Natives, BORNS, Moses Sumney, Bird and the Bee (all but two of these were FREE!!)

What was your favorite event of the summer?

As an overall experience, Anderson .Paak. I knew ever word to every song, and he had the most energy of anyone I’d ever seen. Plus he plays the drums, and the audience was incredibly invested in the show. Seeing Nas was also a dream come true, and seeing Porter Robinson at HARD Summer was a great as well.

Song of your summer? “Miss Right” - Anderson .Paak
